EMPCODE
(Electro Magnetic Propagation Compressed Data Environment)
- EMPCODE provides a means to simulate high fidelity RF propagation effects and use them in intensive computer modeling environments.
- EMPCODE enables modelers to develop their models for applications for:
- Real Time Modeling,
- Littoral or Open Ocean Propagation, and
- Elevation monopulse.
- The EMPCODE capability is generic and is used to exercise high fidelity radar and combat system models in realistic propagation environments.
- Particularly useful in site specific modeling environments
- Supports environmental modeling in assessments of sensor and combat system performance
- The EMPCODE compresses propagation and monopulse data as generated by off-line, high fidelity, propagation models (e.g. VTRPE, TEMPER, APM, etc.) to a fraction of its original size. The data is recovered, on-line, via an interpolation technique, allowing fast and efficient recovery for real-time applications.
- EMPCODE has been used to support:
- Probability of Raid Annihilation (PRA) Testbed
- Aegis software development and testing
- Detailed sensor simulations that include open ocean and littoral operations,
- Detailed combat system simulations,
- Hardware in the loop testing,
- Efficient transmission of propagation information over communication links.
- Other EMPCODE applications can include:
- Mission planning
- Sensors and Combat System Trainers
- Near Real Time Performance Prediction on Board Navy Ships Utilizing SEAWASP and/or RFC Type Capabilities
